Non-runner vehicle transport: moving a car that won't start or drive
Winch loading, locked wheels and flat batteries. Tell us the problem and we match you with drivers who can handle it.
What counts as a non-runner
Any vehicle that can't be driven onto a truck under its own power: dead battery, engine failure, no keys, seized brakes, flat tyres or accident damage. It needs winching, and sometimes wheel skates or dollies.
Tell the driver these things
- Whether the wheels turn and the steering is unlocked
- If the handbrake is stuck on, or it is an automatic stuck in park
- Ground clearance if the vehicle is low, and any damage that stops it rolling
- Whether the keys are with the vehicle
Why the details matter
A driver who arrives without the right kit can't load the vehicle, and you may pay for a wasted trip. A complete job description gets accurate offers and the right truck first time. If a driver can't collect the vehicle for a reason that wasn't in the job, the cancellation rules in our terms apply.
Questions
Can a car with no keys be moved?
Often yes, with a winch and skates, but tell the driver when you post. Locked steering and handbrake make it harder.
What if it turns out to be harder than described?
Drivers can report that they cannot collect the vehicle, and the rules for that are set out in our terms.
