What affects the price

  • Distance

Most of the price is the miles, plus the driver's time getting to you and getting home.

  • Size and weight

A small hatchback, a van and a motorbike need different trucks. Heavier vehicles cost more to carry.

  • Does it run?

A vehicle that can't be driven onto the truck needs winching and more time, and sometimes extra equipment.

  • When you need it

Urgent jobs, evenings, weekends and bank holidays often cost more than a booking made a few days ahead.

  • Access

Tight streets, underground car parks, low ground clearance and locked wheels all take longer.

  • Return trips

A driver already heading your way can often charge less. Recovry shows these as return trips.

How to pay less

  • Book a few days ahead if you can, rather than marking it urgent.
  • Be exact about the vehicle and its condition, so drivers don't price in surprises.
  • Compare several offers, and check each driver's rating and completed jobs.
  • Look at return trips, where a driver is already travelling your way.

Questions

How much does Recovry charge?

Posting a job is free. Drivers set their own prices. You pay the driver's price plus a flat £0.75 booking fee, and the pay screen shows the total before you confirm.

Why do prices differ between drivers?

Each driver sets their own price based on where they are, their truck and how busy they are. Compare a few offers.

Is the price guide a quote?

No. It is a range based on real prices for similar journeys. The price you pay is the offer you accept.

Are there hidden costs?

No. You see the total, including the flat booking fee, before you pay. If the job changes, such as an extra vehicle, the driver sends a price change that you approve before paying more.
