Terms of use
Last updated 29 September 2026
These terms apply when you use Recovry, the website and app run by Recovry Ltd [company name to add] (“Recovry”, “we”, “us”), registered in England and Wales, company number [to add], registered office [to add]. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them together with our privacy policy.
If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other UK consumer law.
1. What Recovry is
Recovry is a marketplace. Customers post a vehicle that needs moving, independent recovery drivers send offers, and the customer chooses one. The recovery itself is carried out by the driver, who runs their own business. The contract for moving the vehicle is between the customer and the driver. We provide the platform, check drivers' documents, handle the payment and help if something goes wrong.
Recovry is not an emergency service. If you're in danger, call 999. On a motorway, follow Highway Code advice and call National Highways on 0300 123 5000.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and live or work in the UK.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password private; you're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account per person. Drivers must not let anyone else use their account or take their jobs.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page once nothing is still in progress.
3. Posting a job (customers)
- Describe the vehicle honestly: its size, whether it drives or rolls, whether the keys are there, any damage, and how many people need to travel with it. Drivers rely on this to know their truck can take it safely.
- You must own the vehicle or have the owner's permission to move it.
- Make sure the vehicle can be reached at the time agreed, and that someone can hand it over or it has been left as described.
- Remove valuables. Drivers aren't responsible for personal items left in the vehicle.
If the vehicle turns out to be very different from the description (for example much bigger, or it won't roll when you said it would), the driver can refuse the job, and a cancellation charge may apply.
4. Taking jobs (drivers)
- You're an independent business, not an employee or agent of Recovry. You decide which jobs to offer on and what to charge.
- Before you can take jobs we check your driving licence, insurance (including goods-in-transit cover), truck, MOT or annual test, and any operator's licence, Driver CPC or waste carrier registration your work needs. You must keep them valid; job access pauses automatically if a required document expires.
- You must follow the law, including driving hours, weight limits and the Highway Code, and load and secure every vehicle safely. Only offer on jobs your truck and licence can legally and safely handle.
- Take the pickup and drop-off photos in the app. They protect you as well as the customer.
- Joining is free. Driver membership is £30 for each calendar month (UK time) in which you complete at least one paid job, and nothing for a month without one. Months run from the 1st to the last day: a job completed on 10 October counts towards October (1 to 31 October), whenever in the month it happens.
- The membership fee is taken from your payouts for jobs completed in that month: the whole £30 from the first payout, or, if that payout is less than £30, the rest from the next ones. You never pay more for a month than your payouts for jobs completed in it. There's no commission on jobs: you keep the price you offered, less the monthly fee.
- Free months: when a driver who signed up with your invite link or code completes 3 jobs, you get one free month. A free month is used automatically for the next calendar month in which you complete a paid job, and has no cash value.
- Pulling out of booked jobs and no-shows add strike points. 3 points in 90 days is a warning; 5 pauses new jobs for 7 days while we review your account.
5. Booking and payment
- When you accept an offer you pay the driver's price plus a £0.50 booking fee. The money is held on your card, not taken, until the job is done.
- When the driver delivers, the payment is taken. If you're there, you give the driver your 4-digit handover code to confirm delivery. If not, you can confirm in the app or report a problem; if you do neither, it confirms itself 24 hours after delivery.
- Drivers are paid for confirmed jobs in the weekly payout every Monday.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Recovry never holds your card details.
6. Cancellations
Customers: cancelling before you've paid is always free. After paying, what you get back depends on how close it is to the booked time, and the app shows the exact amount before you confirm:
- More than 24 hours before: full refund.
- 6 to 24 hours before: half the driver's price goes to the driver for keeping the slot; the rest is refunded.
- Less than 6 hours before: no refund.
- “As soon as possible” jobs: full refund within 10 minutes of booking; after that, half the driver's price goes to the driver, as they may already be on their way.
The £0.50 booking fee is refunded only when you get a full refund. Once the driver has started the job it can't be cancelled in the app; contact us.
Drivers: if a driver pulls out you get a full refund and your job reopens for new offers.
Jobs not paid for within 2 hours of choosing a driver are cancelled automatically, free of charge.
7. If something goes wrong
If your vehicle is damaged, not delivered as agreed, or there's another problem, report it from the job page within 24 hours of delivery. The driver's payout is held while we look into it, using the photos, messages, locations and the job record. We'll decide fairly and may refund some or all of the payment.
Damage to the vehicle while it's being moved is the driver's responsibility and is claimed through their insurance. We'll share the evidence we hold to help with a claim.
8. Keep it on Recovry
Chat, pay and arrange jobs through the app. It's what lets us check drivers, hold payments safely and step in if something goes wrong. Phone numbers and email addresses in messages are hidden automatically.
Don't use Recovry to:
- arrange to pay or be paid outside the app for a job found on Recovry;
- post fake jobs or offers, or leave ratings that aren't honest;
- move a vehicle you know is stolen, or that you don't have permission to move;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.
We can remove content, pause or close accounts that break these terms. We'll tell you why unless the law or a safety concern stops us.
9. Our responsibility to you
We'll run Recovry with reasonable care and skill. We check drivers' documents carefully, but we can't guarantee a driver's work, and we aren't responsible for the recovery itself, which is the driver's service.
We aren't responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for business losses if you use Recovry as a consumer. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
10. Changes and the law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email you or show a notice when you sign in before it takes effect.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a complaint, contact us first and we'll do our best to put it right.
